What is the focus of Draw Near - Children's Ministry Curriculum?
We want children to lead BiG expansive lives, grow up to be BiG people that lead and influence in every area of their BiG lives. Believing in a BiG God and making a BiG difference!
BiG is a large group/small group children’s ministry curriculum with a 9 lesson format, each theme is explored for 3 lessons at a time. This innovative approach to learning means your regular attenders will see and learn something new each week, but also experience the power of repetition and give every child who comes even one weekend a month an understanding of the topic. So customise it, rip it apart, use what you want and most of all seek the wisdom of God as you use BiG as a foundation to see God move in the lives of your families.
The Draw Near Children's Ministry Curriculum is the second release for Season 3.

BIG PICTURE: POSITION
BiG Word: “But it is good for me to draw near to God; I have put my trust in the Lord GOD, That I may declare all Your works.” - Psalm 73:28 (NKJV)
Lesson 1
BiG Idea: Draw Near
BiG Point: God created us to be close to Him
Learning Outcomes
At the conclusion of this lesson children will:
• Learn that God created us to be in a close relationship with Him but sin separated us
• Discover that God longs to draw near to us as we draw near to Him
• Know that Jesus died and rose again for our sin, so we could be in relationship with God
Lesson 2
BiG Idea: Hungry for More
BiG Point: Position yourself in God’s Word
Learning Outcomes
At the conclusion of this lesson children will:
• Understand that we can draw near to God through His word
• Learn that we grow by being obedient to God’s word
• Develop a hunger for God’s word
Lesson 3
BiG Idea: Where Are You?
BiG Point: Through Jesus we can draw near to God
Learning Outcomes
At the conclusion of this lesson children will:
• Learn that through Christ we are positioned to enter God’s presence with boldness
• Know that when we can take steps to draw near to God
• Discover a closer personal relationship with God
BIG PICTURE: PRAYER

Lesson 1
BiG Idea: Hallowed be Your Name
BiG Point: We pray because of who God is, not what He does
Learning Outcomes
At the conclusion of this lesson children will:
• Know that we can draw near to God through prayer
• Understand that we pray because of who God is, not because what he does for us
• Learn how Jesus taught His followers to pray
Lesson 2
BiG Idea: Walk with God
BiG Point: The Holy Spirit helps me pray
Learning Outcomes
At the conclusion of this lesson children will:
• Discover that the Holy Spirit is our helper and guide
• Know that the Holy Spirit helps us pray
• Learn that we draw near to God through the Holy Spirit’s work in our lives
Lesson 3
BiG Idea: Can’t stop, Won’t Stop
BiG Point: Pray continually, God is always listening
Learning Outcomes
At the conclusion of this lesson children will:
• Understand that prayer is a two way conversation with God
• Know that we can pray continually, God is always listening
• Discover that they can draw near to God through prayer
BIG PICTURE: PRAISE
BiG Word: “But a time is coming, and it is already here! Even now the true worshipers are being led by the Spirit to worship the Father according to the truth. These are the ones the Father is seeking to worship him.” - John 4:23 (CEV)
Lesson 1
BiG Idea: You Know Me
BiG Point: I praise God for I am fearfully and wonderfully made
Learning Outcomes
At the conclusion of this lesson children will:
• Discover that they can draw near to God through praise
• Learn that God knows each of us so closely that he knows how many hairs are on our head
• Know that we praise God because he knows us and wants to know us
Lesson 2
BiG Idea: True Worshipers
BiG Point: We worship God with actions not just words
Learning Outcomes
At the conclusion of this lesson children will:
• Understand that worship isn’t just words, true worship is shown in our actions
• Learn about Jesus teaching that true worship comes from our hearts
• Discover that God loves when we draw near to Him in worship
Lesson 3
BiG Idea: Delightful
BiG Point: We enjoy God’s presence
Learning Outcomes
At the conclusion of this lesson children will:
• Know that one day in God’s presence is better than a thousand anywhere else
• Learn to delight in drawing near to God and being in His presence
• Discover how Moses experienced God’s presence
